Welcome to digitaldrummer.net!
Can't keep a beat? Tired of
programming that drum machine? Need the feel of a real drummer? Look no further! I can provide custom,
professional quality drum tracks for your studio or home recordings quickly and
affordably.
How does it work?
You send me the basic arrangement
and I will record acoustic or electronic drum tracks and send a demo MP3 back to you for
approval. When you are satisfied, I will ship a CD/DVD with all the
individual drum tracks to you so you can edit and mix however you want. I
use Pro Tools to record the tracks, and create up to 13 individual WAV files
(24-bit/44.1 KHz unless otherwise specified) for acoustic drums, or a single
stereo track for e-drums. WAV format can be
easily imported into Pro Tools, Sonar, Cakewalk, Cubase, Nuendo, Reaper, and a variety of other
multi-track recording applications for PC and Mac.
How can I get started?
You can email, or upload an MP3,
or send an audio CD, or data CD (with WAV or MP3 files) with your basic tracks
and musical arrangement. I prefer a click track, but drum machine/loops or
existing drums are OK too. It works best if you can tell me the tempo,
then include 8 or more clicks at the start of the song (and any tempo changes)
so I can sync my own click. This makes the track I send back to you a little easier
to listen to (since the click won't be there). You can also pan the click
or existing drums hard left or right so that I can adjust the volume I need
(keep in mind that, the mix I send back to you will lose any stereo effect from
your original audio file) or you can even send the click on an individual track.
If you didn't use a click, I will follow your existing track.
If
you have ideas about a particular sound you are looking for (i.e., fat snare,
tight snare, etc.), please let me know when you submit your track. The
more you can tell me about the sound or style you are looking for the faster I
can get the sound and style you are looking for, or
if you prefer I can just go with what I feel after listening to your track.
If you need a loop (of real
acoustic drums or e-drums), let me know the tempo, style, length of the loop (4, 8, 16
bars, etc) and any particular type of sound you are looking for.
What will I receive?
So that you can get the best
results in your mix, I will send you the individual mono tracks. If you have
Pro Tools, I can even send you the entire session. An example of the
acoustic drum tracks you might receive is:

Of course,
depending on the style and needs of the tracks, I may use different mic'ing
techniques, or I may not always use all the drums/mics. Also, each track you
will receive is dry (i.e. without effects; however I may EQ and/or compress certain tracks
unless you specify otherwise. However, if you prefer more tracks, less tracks, a
stereo mixdown, or something else, let me know so I can get you exactly what you
need.
Included in my rate is web download and USPS shipping (in the U.S.)
if you need a "hard copy". If you
require international or overnight shipping, the cost will
only be the exact cost from FedEx, DHL, etc. Why do I ship CDs
or DVDs? A typical song (10 drum tracks, 4-5 minutes of 24 bit
44.1KHz) uses about 100MB/min of disk space, so one song can easily
fill a CD and at that size, FedEx is still sometimes faster than the internet
(for most folks), especially if we do more than one song...
What are
some benefits?
My
drums stay setup in my studio where I have spent countless hours
tuning drums, turning knobs, pushing buttons, and tweaking mic positions in search
of that perfect drum sound. There are no roadies,
cartage costs, setup or travel expenses, etc. You save
time and money.
